Reply by chand on Thu Jan 16, 2025 at 10:01 amI think if you're the first one to a given control, you see the "peg" still at the control and you get diverted to a longer route.I assume this keeps going for a few controls

Reply by furlong47 on Thu Jan 16, 2025 at 10:40 pmI'm sure the course notes explain it (it looks like the permission level on that document needs changed so it can be seen.) But Chris has the basic idea. We did this a few years ago and there were a few clothespins at some controls... you took one and then did some extra part of the course. By the time I got to the controls all the clothespins were gone so I had the shortest possible route.

Reply by Glen.s.Lewis on Thu Jan 23, 2025 at 1:57 pmI supposed that I should have clarified. In the prior peg race, a runner (unintentionally) skipped a peg. As a result, I took that peg (the only one left) and re-ran a long leg. The runner ahead was able to access a peg at a later control (the only one there) and re-run a shorter leg.In the current format with the peg-legs marked on the map, it could make sense for a runner to skip a leg that has a longer "A" leg to instead access a later but shorter "A" leg. I'm really just curious if there are official rules for a race like this, and, if so, what they might say about skipping a peg.
