Topic created by Steve on Sat Dec 21, 2024 at 4:16 pmJanet has asked me to post this update.Dennis passed away late last evening. He was born on 12/29/56, and died 12/20/24.He started orienteering in the early '90's when his daughter joined the Girl Scout O patrol. Being good parents, Janet and Dennis became a major part of the DVOA Juniors, helping with lodgeing, feeding and raising funds (by running a grill at many A events) to help with the growth of our club through instilling the culture in our youth. All of this work was in addition to his full time job as an independent electrician, and his duty to our country as a member of the Naval Reserves, where he reached the rank of Chief. His legacy will be missed by many.He is survived by his wife, Janet, and his children, Corrine and Ryan, as well as his grandchild, Rylee. At this time they have not decided to have a ceremony.Send condolences to: 438 Main Street, Red Hill PA, 18076 or call 2162 with a 215 area code and a 313 exchange.

Reply by wriley on Mon Dec 23, 2024 at 2:18 pmI remember Dennis as an enthusiastic parent and orienteer at many events, in my earlier years at DVOA. I'm happy he was able to join us and enjoy the sport - and that we can remember him as well, even many years after his latest DVOA appearances in 2017.
