Only 2 days to go!!! We have 291 starts for the morining cross-country event with over 520 participants.  If you are in the area of French Creek on Saturday just before 2pm stop by the pool area to see the mass start of the score event at 2pm.  This will be my 30th and it is still always an amazing thing to witness...enthusiastic young people having fun in the outdoors!!

Prior to the event I just want to thank those that have stepped up this year to volunteer and help with the event. I have only been directing for a few years but this is the first time I feel good pre-event about the level of volunteers supporting the event.  In the past we always have had a great level of volunteers but I never felt well organized ahead of time (my fault only).

I will be posting a list next week of all the volunteers that helped support both MASOC30 and Sunday's Local club event.  It is important to see that DVOA continues to support scouting's interest in the outdoors and orienteering as a lifetime recreation/competition sport.

Mark and crew, very proud to say, congrats in advance for this MASOC #30.  Thats something tfor you and all past event directors, Ed Scott, -( I hope I have not missed anyone else) and Mary Frank(?).  Thousands of Scouts young and old  have marched across out under and over, (roger) DVOA O maps, and without MASOC, its sizable impact on COmpass and Map learning are almost - Unmeasureable ...  "Keep up the good Orienteering work, Surely"!

PS by MASOC ED ..."Bob, this is Mark Frank interrupting, thanks for the Tanks - but"  -  stop calling me "Shirley"...

Mark Frank asked me to head up the finish area. Thank you so much for those that helped, including, John Gillette, who was wedded to the computer for 4 and a half hours, and solved at least 6 issues that arose. Sharon Siegler and Kathy Moss, that collected and sorted over 250  epunches from three different kits. Petr Hartman, Bob Rycharski, Steve Mones and Robert Frank, that made sure the finishers came in as a team, and then proceeded to the download ,even though their scout leaders were trying to lead them astray to report on their courses. Special thanks to Robert Frank, who brought morning pastrys and Troop 725(?) for supplying hot dogs for lunch.
