START TIMES: Scouts from 10am to Noon – General Public 10am until 1pm.

DVOA is again offering our Annual NJ Scout Orienteering Championship right in the middle of New Jersey at Monmouth Council’s Quail Hill Scout Reservation. This offers troops the option of camping at Quail Hill that weekend, culminating by joining us at the 23rd O-Championship Sunday morning after breaking camp.  Please pass along word among scouting friends of yours who may not be aware of the event.

We welcome ALL Scouts – Girl Scouts and Brownies, Venture Crews and of course all Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts throughout the state, even BSA troops who are members of a NJ Council though their troop is located in PA.

Quail Hill Scout Reservation is perfect for orienteering with its wide variety of terrain, from an intricate trail system to wide open fields, from rolling hills with valleys carved into their sides to stream beds flowing down into lake and seasonal marshes, from dramatic rootstocks with dense canopies left from Hurricane Sandy to open runnable woods…..lots of features to make for very interesting courses. Plus we have one of DVOA’s best course setters who will challenge but not overwhelm your scouts. And veteran DVOA instructors provide introductory map and navigation training throughout the morning.

So Troop Leaders – in planning your Fall schedule, save October 20th to join the most adventurous orienteering in New Jersey Scouting.  We promise a great fun-packed scout orienteering competition.

We do ask larger troops to please provide an adult leader for an hour or two during the day to supply simple organizational support to DVOA staff.  Please contact Event Director Bob Burg – bburg at comcast.net.

  • JROTC Units Planning to Attend: To make morning Registration as easy and streamlined as possible, please fill in the Entry Form in the link below and email it to our Registrars. But DO NOT include fees: Your fees will be per entry, not per cadet, the same as usual for local events, to be paid that morning.
  • Event Patches included in the entry fee for all pre-registered scouts.
  • Medals Awarded to top 3 finishers on each course in all scout categories.
  • Plaques Awarded to top 3 troops in Beginner (W and Yshrt) and Advanced (Yavd and O) categories.
