With the cold weather (20's and windy) forecast and snow/sleet expected just preceding the event causing even more logistical hassles, QOC has decided to keep the individual courses open, but to cancel the relay portion of the event - with all courses closing by 2PM.

When preparing for the cold, be mindful:
    • We're forecast to have 3-8 inches of snow by the morning in the DVOA area, and 0-5 inches down in the QOC area - so plan extra time for a safely slow drive.
    • There is no indoor shelter at the start/finish pavilion - just a roofed outdoor pavillion, and a few portajohns.
    • The is limited parking near the start/finish area - and the nearby overflow parking is normally in a field that is likely to be too slushy/muddy - so we'll likely have to fall back to a parking lot 400m away from the start/finish.

If you are well prepared for the cold, and are disappointed by being only able to run one course, and not a 2nd relay course later in the day - QOC can provide an extra course for you - e.g. if you run Green, and you want to also run a Yellow/Orange/Brown later in the day, that's an option - as long as you are done by 2PM. Please reach out to one of the organizers at the qocweb.org site, to let them know, if you'd like to take this option.

Please also double check tomorrow morning - as it's possible the park officials choose to cancel the entire event, if there is especially heavy snowfall and poor park road drivability.

Just an FYI for folks heading to the Mid-Atlantic Champs.  There will NOT be any water on the courses or at the Finish.  There will not be any snacks either.  So bring whatever you think you will need.

I'm sure there will be an official notice soon but the event has been canceled.

QOC website has been updated to announce the CANCELLATION of this event due to the very challenging travel weather.

Stay warm, and stay tuned about the reschedule!
