Huge thank you for the Billygoat

Topic created by KyleS on Tue May 13, 2025 at 3:51 pmI wanted to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped out with this past weekend's Billygoat - without your help, it would not have been nearly as successful and smoothly run for Sam and I!I hope I don't forget anyone specific who I tasked with jobs on Sunday, but thank you to the following people specifically:
- Rob Wilkison and Angelica Riley for helping with the aid station.
- Julie Keim who helped with the clock (I may not have figured out how to get that stand set up without you...) and awards ceremony.
- Wyatt Riley for general help and the awards ceremony.
- Ann MacMullan & Hugh MacMullan for help with the clock set up & awards ceremony.
- All the people who helped with control pickup & cleanup (I know I'm missing some names here but know that Patty Carrigan, Eric Weyman, and Stephen Pepe helped with this).
- Ron Bortz, Mary Frank, and Mark Frank for helping with equipment.
- Sandy Fillebrown for help with park permissions and a lot of pre-event and day-of logistics, registration/check-in, and computer/results assistance.
- Eric Weyman for course/map vetting and much more day-of assistance.
- Lena Kushleyeva for many event prep, day-of set up, logistics, break-down, and likely moral support for the course setter!
- And much thanks to Sam Kolins, who I think everyone who was there Sunday knows put a lot of thought and effort into setting the courses, which is certainly the feedback I've heard from the weekend from non-DVOA people. I appreciate even asking me if I would be interested in doing the Billygoat when I got a simple email a year and a half ago in Nov 2023 asking "Billygoat Event Director?". I had never been to a Billygoat (this was my first and only Billygoat attendance... as ED, no less!), but had heard of it and knew it had a kind of fun mysteria surrounding it... Little did I know it would be the most fun and rewarding event I've helped with so far in my still short orienteering stint. I'm very grateful for even being asked to help run this event still being so new on the orienteering scene and with DVOA.
Thank you all again! If I missed naming you, it wasn't intentional - Sunday was a whirlwind of fun and logistics :)-Kyle -

Hope we can continue to have it working for us.Special thanks to whoever emailed Kyle to get him involved. ;-)
