We're hoping to see lots of kids at 4 Mile Circle in Brendan Byrne State Forest on Saturday April 16, the day before Easter.  Bob has set a tiny course for them with treasures to find!  They don't have to be registered -- just come and have fun!
As usual, Bob is wondering how many maps to print as the registration deadline is Friday morning, so help us out and get hopping on your registration so we print enough maps.  Advanced courses go where no orienteer has gone before and the blueberries haven't gone crazy yet, so it will be a fun day for grownups as well as kids.

I often go where no orienteer has gone before.  It is called getting lost.  Steve

LATEST REPORT FROM TODAY'S SUMMER VISIT TO THE SJ PINELANDS
As I was hanging the more remote controls at 4 Mile today, I was actually sweating!!!  What a concept.

As Kathy reported we have a a special treasure hunt course designed for young ones and the young at heart at no cost, which circles around our staging area using the old school process of pin punching. What tales you can tell your kids about your orienteering history! Wink

The courses use newly revised mapping (during covidtime) that extends further southwest, then all the way back towards our staging area.  It features several controlled burn areas completed in recent years that have opened up those woods.  So for advanced courses (but not only advanced courses), you have lots of new cross terrain route choice which invites and rewards careful map reading. That also includes the longer advanced courses, where the portion that featured a lot of new open vegetation completed in 2018-19 is still holding up rather well. For Red and Blue I've also used a brand new fire ditch in a very recently controlled burn area that uses terrain I've avoided forever. Controlled Burn Alert for Red and Blue: Do not wear your Easter best.)

    AND A FINAL NOTE

Since this is a Saturday event, please remember that tonight (or early tomorrow) is your last chance to register. We are offering a special Easter Saturday event that you'll be happy you attended.  Wear bunny ears if you have them.
    See you in the woods.

    Sorry for the repeat.
The first one didn't seem to take.  So I hit "Post Message" a second time, then both of them showed up.

I'll try to find my bunny ears but the rest of the outfit doesn't quite fit the way it used to!
