Due to the current situation in Afghanistan, and the overall work load that John Gillette has been under for the last several months, He has decided to step down as DVOA president. Obviously, his job has much more priority than DVOA, and we will miss him and all of his volunteering and good nature.

Unfortunately, this is a terrible time for this to happen to our club. We are scheduled to be holding an A event the first week of November. John was also the meet director for that, and by his own admission, there is work that is behind schedule. If you are interested in helping the club, your efforts will be appreciated. Please get in touch with any board member to reveal your intentions.
The current board is made up of:
    VP            Tom Overbaugh
    Secretary  Mary Frank
    Treasurer   John Ort
trustees    Janet Porter, Steve Aronson, Kathy Moss, Tim Walsh and Bob Agosta

Current status is that Tom has accepted the Presidency, and we are searching for an interim VeeP. The VeeP spot will be filled by a vote in January, so it is only for four months.

Mary has taken on the A meet Director, and is looking for as many helpers as she can find. Do not be shy, we need your help, and will fit you in a spot where you will succeed. On the job training is available.

As Steve indicated above, John Gillette has decided to step down as DVOA President due to his overwhelming work responsibilities.  We thank John for his service to DVOA and hope he will still be able to find time in his busy schedule in the future to participate in club activities.

Per the club Bylaws, I will assume the interim President duties until a new election of officers is held at the Winter Meeting in January.  Also per the Bylaws, the DVOA Board is to appoint an interim Vice President.  The Board has selected club veteran Rob Wilkison to fill this post.  Rob has accepted and is now the interim Vice President of DVOA, again until the new election of officers in January.

Our immediate focus as a club is the Fall schedule including a planned "Back to the Woods" National Event on November 6-7.  Sanctioning paperwork has been submitted to OUSA and we are awaiting their response.  The venues will be a Sprint on Saturday morning 11/6 on a brand new map of Bellevue State Park in Wilmington, DE, a Middle Distance race on Saturday afternoon 11/6 on a newly updated map of Iron Hill County Park in Newark, DE and a Long Distance race on Sunday 11/7 on a newly updated map of Rodney Scout Reservation near North East, MD.  Mary Frank will be Event Director.  I will be Course Setter for the Sprint and the Middle; Wyatt Riley will be Course Setter for the Long.  Obviously, we will follow recommended COVID protocols to conduct a safe event.  We will need a large contingent of volunteers to stage a successful event so I encourage you to volunteer to help wherever you can.  Please put this event on your schedule and plan on attending!

If you have other concerns or issues regarding club operations, please do not hesitate to contact me (toverbaugh@comcast.net).  I appreciate your patience as we transition to new leadership.

    Regards,
    Tom Overbaugh

I would consider Rutgers (BTDT), but am planning to be in Ohio at that time.
