So what have DVOA education volunteers been up to this summer?

6/15 Marsh Creek  "Get Outdoors Day"   Speaking with interested families and individuals + Beginner course
Organized by Ed Scott with support from Dave & Kathy Urban, Mark and Robert Frank

7/7 Crow's Nest Beginner Event - Intro program followed by a choice of 2 beginner level programs.
Organized by Bob Gross, Support by John Gilette, Mary and Mark Frank

7/13  Bingaman Nature Center - Mt. Penn Beginner event.  Intro and Beginner level course
Organized by John Gillette and Ed Scott.

Other members of DVOA have done programs and events and I would ask you to note them on the eboard so that members are aware of the other volunteer programs DVOA does besides our regular event schedule.

    UPCOMING:

7/27 Northern Lehigh "Everyhting Outdoors Food Truck Festival" Walnutport PA.  Speaking with interested families and individuals,  simple map intro to orienteering course on the grounds of the event.
organized by Robert & Mark Frank

8/10 West Caln Sportsman Club - "Women in the Wild Day". Intro program and beginner course at Springton Manor.  Organized and supported by Mary, Mark and Robert Frank

8/25 Sierra Club annual outing at Camp Daddy Allen, Hickory Run State Park.  Into program and beginner course.  Organized and supported by Mary & Mark Frank

If you are aware of an event that you believe would be suitable for DVOA to attend please let me know.

Park outdoor events especially...but anywhere we can get in front of outdoor minded people.
Generally we are there with a DVOA tent, blade and marketing material along and free used or outdated maps...and enthusiatic DVOA members.

    More to come!

It's great to hear all the things the Franks are doing for DVOA. We should ask "how did you hear about DVOA/this event?" on our registration forms, and I'm sure the answer will often be one of their educational sessions.  Our registration forms need an update anyway.
Also, Ron, if you are reading this, I'll spring for new clipboards that fit better in the boxes!

Always open to any "show me" suggestions to help people pack the kits better no matter what came in them when they came from me and packed so the lids will easily close. I know there are clipboards with flat"ter" clips that may fit in the kits better and if those are what you have in mind, good. If there is a foldable clip board or something other that will accommodate 8 1/2 X 11papers I welcome anything that creates more room in the boxes and if someone wants to donate such items I am sure the club would be appreciative.

Add the Twin Valley 4th grade outdoors day at French Creek that Mary and I have done for the past 10+/- years.  We  usually have about 4 groups each and about 10-15 kids per group.  Usually happens within a week of MASOC.

In the past tense, Sharon and I did an outdoor program at Illick's Mill on May 11th,  with help from Roger and Andrea Hartley and Petr Hartman, as well as former members Rick and Sally Reynolds.
