Well this was certainly a splendid day at Tyler!!!  The potential lion's roar devolved into a lion cub's meow. And while the wind was fierce atop our Staging Area's hilltop, it quieted nicely once you were in the woods, plus heavy overnight rains turned into showers that diminished throughout the day.

Kudos to all the cadets and unit leaders who decided to brave the elements (and muddly hillsides) with gusto.  And especially to all the DVOA staff whose dedication and ingenuity in dealing with the elements trumped all of our trepidations.  They made cratefuls of lemons into lemonade.  And we all were rewarded for it.

From everything I saw and everyone I talked with, today's event was a total triumph.  Running clubs may cancel their events, but orienteers embrace the elements, and make questionable days into memorable adventures.

    Thank you all.

And for those who are curious (Area 4 Naval JROTC units?)....here are the preliminary results (until PriceWaterhouseCoopers makes it official) --

    First Colts Neck 150
    Second MAST  48
    Third Boyertown  41

First, Second, and Third on the 6 courses....as well as all results.....will be posted soon on DVOA's website.
    Check out "Events-Results".

I have to agree,   this was the one thing we always liked about this club,  u didn't cancel for rain!  We buy rain gear,  why not use it!
