It is the time to rough out our 2018 schedule.  Many venues and dates are set and awaiting permissions and additional personnel.  Some good summer and fall dates are still open.  Please consider volunteering for an existing event on the calender that is not covered, or pick one or two of the open weekends to do the directing or course setting.  I've found that once one of those key positions is filled the other usually comes soon after.   Dates we need at this time are: May 27; June 3;  Anything in July or August.. perhaps mid week sprints or normal courses on weekends; Sept 16 & 23, Oct 7,14 & 21;  Nov 18 & 25.

Ed; Hold May 27 open for a while. Last night there was a discussion about assisting Western Conn with an A event.

And Ed, similar to Steve's post, please don't ask for or fill the Oct 21 date.  On Oct 20th we will be hosting the Area 4 Naval JROTC Chmpshp at Tyler State Park, and expect at least the 400-500 cadets we have hosted the past 2 yrs.
So we will need all the volunteers we can gather.  Plus all members and volunteers can run a course that Saturday.
I would hate to see a second event scheduled that weekend which would dilute the support we will need for such a large event.

hint, hint to anyone reading this post, any potential volunteers please contact me....  Cool    bburg at comcast.net

The cadets are the best possible audience we could attract for the future of orienteering, plus they are a really committed population.  AND it will make a great companion event to Mark Frank's Patriot's Challenge debuting this May.  Just think -- 2 large inviting DVOA-sponsored competitions for JROTC units each year!!!

To add to that October mush, though, we were asked to move the Susquehanna Stumble off of the current October 28th date to make way for a Junior fundraiser with the possibility that they would come if it was an adjoining weekend. So the 21st was in fact one that has been thrown around... the other was November 4th but there's  a score-o already on the calendar and I have a personal conflict and we pretty much need every warm body we can get with our club being awfully teeny these days. Maybe it needs to move up in October... Brad does the scheduling now, don't know if you want to get in contact with him and work this out.

    Just a heads-up...

OCIN is seriously considering holding the US Nationals (fka US Individual/SML Champs) on Veterans Day weekend (Nov 9-11).
