ED/CS Notes:
This year President's Cup will be held at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education (SCEE).
Advanced course will have a mass start at 11:00AM.
Start window for Beginner (White) course will be 11:00AM till 12:00PM.
All courses will be closed at 1:00PM and controls pick up will start.
Please plan your time accordingly.
This map is about 5 years old and was used multiple times for a variety of local club events. It offers quite dense trails network, some open fields, and some wooded areas with two-three creeks. Vegetation varies from open areas to uncrossable patches of green briar. Some fields became overgrown and are no longer crossable. There are some buildings, abandoned buildings, ruins, and fenced enclosures. While field-checking I found several new fences which are uncrossable. Also, one or two trails are no longer in use and are difficult to run on (the one I noticed will be marked accordingly on the map). One area was redone few years ago and it'll be marked as uncrossable - only advanced course will go through that area.
Beginner course is standard point-to-point course.
Advanced course (Orange-Brown level) will have one twist to make it more enjoyable experience. There will be one section on the course with 9 checkpoints (#31 through #39) you’ll have to memorize and navigate to the checkpoints in any order until you reach next available checkpoint on your map. In addition, you might be eligible to skip control(s) in that section. Please refer to the table below, which lists your course you normally run and number of controls you can skip:
- Blue/Red – no skip;
- Green – 1 skip;
- Brown – 2 skips;
- Orange – 3 skips;
Course was set to avoid some dense vegetation as well as to give an option go around on the trail or try your luck going straight. In some cases few controls were set intentionally to get around or away from not so friendly patches of green briar.
There will be no water stops on the course.
The SCEE office will be closed and there will be no bathrooms nor registration inside!
