Notes: President's Cup 2012.
ED/CS Notes:
This year President's Cup will be held at Norristown Farm Park.
Advanced course will have a mass start at 11:00AM.
Start window for Beginner and Intermediate courses will be 11:00AM till 12:00PM.
All courses will be closed at 1:00PM and controls pick up will start.
Please plan your time accordingly.
This map was used only once last year and offers a lot of open fields with some wooded areas along couple of creeks where vegetation varies from extremely open areas to uncrossable patches of green briar. There are some abandoned buildings, ruins, medium roads/paved trails network. While fieldchecking I found several new wetland management contraction sites which are fenced with 2.5m tall wired fences. They are uncrossable and will be marked respectively on the maps. Other than that there are almost no changes to the original map.
All courses were set to avoid creeks crossings as well as rail road. There will be two (2) rail road mandatory crossing points. Please use these locations and plan your routes accordingly. The exception would be southern part of raill road which you are allowed to cross (the nearby bridge might be closed, I didn't check it, but will update you before the start).
Beginners (White/Yellow level) and Intermediate (Orange/Brown level) are standard point-to-point courses.
Advanced course (Green/Red/Blue level) will have several twists to make it more enjoyable experience. There will be one section on the course with 4 checkpoints you’ll have to memorize and navigate to the checkpoints in any order until you reach next available checkpoint on your map. Then later on the course you’ll have another challenge. This time you’ll be offered another set of four (4) checkpoints you can take in any (random) order. There will be “gated” checkpoint you’ll have to punch before and after you done with random checkpoints.
Intermediate and Advanced courses will reuse same control; don’t forget to punch it twice on the way out and back.
There will be no water stops on the course.
