ED/CS Notes:
BEAT THE HURRICANE INTO (and out of) THE WOODS
While the annual Scout and JROTC event at Washington Crossing looks to be free of snow this year, the forecast for the near future is even more dramatic. But Hurricane Sandy won't be here till a day or two later. So this is a great time to catch a nice normal day in the woods before it all breaks loose!

Course setter Bob Burg has continued to map at the park so the maps this year will have newly mapped terrain on them. The final course stats are listed below -- a full array of courses without any pesky climb to contend with, including a nice long Red for you runners antsy to stretch your legs after NAOC and before huddling in our caves.
The first part of the day is essentially devoted to Scouting and JROTC units, who must pre-register (contact the Event Director, Doug Sevon, dsevon at verizon.net, if you have questions or need a registration form).
So we ask regular orienteers to plan on running their courses in the second part of the day with open start times between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM. And please, if you are even thinking about attending, send an email with your name, course, and cell phone number to registermenow at dvoa.org. This does not commit you to attend, but we need to submit a preliminary list of attendess to the Park prior to the actual event.
As usual, and particularly important for youth events (we have nearly 400 registered), we will need plenty of help. Please use the volunteer link, http://www.dvoa.org/events/vols/vol.php?sked_id=850, to sign up and help spread the fun of orienteering to the potential next generation of orienteers.
See you in the woods! You can always pick up your milk and bread et.al. on your way home.
