ED/CS Notes:

Great news everyone!  We have an unprecedented opportunity to use beautiful portions of the Core Creek map where no DVOA’er has ever dared to tread (we think). So we’ve decided to make a day of it.

First, we’ve designed a 4.4k Advanced course (details below) to take advantage of this opportunity.  It will take full advantage of white woods that, as far as we’ve been able to figure out, DVOA has never visited before.  We will also offer the normal White and Yellow courses, with an Orange course that will challenge both new and experienced intermediate orienteers.  And no one has to contend with straight vertical courses or boulder fields!

Second, we invite you to bring a potluck picnic item and hang out with us after running a course to socialize with the orienteering crowd during the afternoon.  We will have a grill to use, and ask you to bring whatever you would like to share.  We assure you that we’ve ordered nothing but blue skies and ideal temperatures for the day.

Third, Bob is designing a special event, using the White course control locations, for families and groups to go out on (either as your first course or as a follow-up fun event) where you are asked to find information, do fun activities, and discover the park in a unique way.  We ask that you donate whatever is appropriate for you that will be given to Core Creek Park for their continuing hospitality.

Core Creek is a Bucks County park that features wonderful open lawns, an abundant collection of pavilions that the local populations use enthusiastically Spring through Fall, with patches of woods and open trees providing a great venue for beginner orienteering courses.  Expanding to surrounding sections of woods, the park provides intricate terrain for intermediate courses, with some well-mapped sections that provide beautiful open woods and intricate trail systems that will challenge advanced orienteers as well.

So we encourage you to experience Core Creek Park like DVOA never has before.  And we welcome you to spend the afternoon with us, meeting and greeting with our warm orienteering community.

See you in the woods (and park) and picnic pavilion.
