To start off our DVOA Spring Schedule this Sunday, we are delighted to debut the now completely revised Core Creek map. Courses are designed to get everyone out into Bucks County terrain when it offers its most open navigation conditions of the year. So the longer courses visit all corners of this small park through the most runnable areas. Because of the density and variety of detail in virtually every part of the park, we will be using a 1:7500 scale version of the map for this event.
An extensive trail system full of a variety of greens as well as large (and small) clearings and wide open fields will challenge (and reward) all orienteers to carefully choose the best route from control to control. Then every once in a while you'll find yourselves in a patch of wide open woods which courses use to their fullest. And for the runners among us, advanced courses provide plenty of opportunity to stretch out your legs - but only if you do it smartly.
We will be staging the event from Duchess Lane parking lot which is conveniently located close to the center of the park which wraps from northwest to south to northeast around Lake Luxembourg. We have a heated bathroom and playground apparatus just feet from our pavilion, complete with grill. Remember we do not provide water on our courses or snacks at the staging area, so plan accordingly. And let's hope for minimal rain this coming week since the park can get rather soggy.
