Course Setter Notes

DVOA'S SPRINGTON MANOR FARM meet on April 17th will offer a NEW 1:5000 map of an interesting meet site. The map is high-quality, laser-printed with original fieldwork and drafting by Vladimir Zerdev (2007) and with production and revisions by Eric Weyman (2010). It has been characterized as "beautiful". The primary course-setting challenges were to produce courses of proper length within the relatively small area of the Farm, and to fully utilize the available runnable woods. Runners should avoid any cultivated fields; and there is no advantage to running through them. The RED course crosses a small stream four times. Course lengths are on the short side, but that is mitigated by the number of controls used on each course. There will be some controls close to each other, so be careful. I predict fast times and a mispunch or two. We have access to an inside room for registration and e-punch download if the weather is bad.
